I finally got the part to balance the z-axis movements on the Shopbot and I tuned it up tonight. It should be more consistent, now. Hopefully it will stop sagging halfway through a project. Let me know how it works!

I tried it Thursday. Its better, but still dropping in Z.
Any ideas?
You could always use a stronger spring or replace the z motor with one with a higher holding torque. Do you know what size motor it is?

Well, we could install another spring. That may help. I’ve got 2 more.

Just one. I couldn’t get them to coil around each other like was suggested on some videos.
