I have a surgery on 05/10 and I’m gonna be out of commission for a bit. Could I convince anyone to water my garden plot for me?
I’ll gladly repay the favor in any (legal) way I can! (For flagging reasons, this is a joke. I don’t really think y’all would ask me to do anything illegal.)
I want to thank @squarenuts for taking care of everything while I was away. I know the timing wasn’t ideal, and I appreciate everyone being patient as we rent our plots out for the first time this year!
Good news: the board officially approved our rental agreements, so the ones you signed are now totally legit! I put the cart before the horse on that one, but it’s all good now. We also had a very productive garden meeting this past Sunday and got all of the plots marked. I’ve attached a map below that has labels for each renter. We still have plots available, BTW!
I think the threat of frost might finally be over, based on some long term forecasts. We’re going to go ahead and start planting in our communal area. Some of our gardeners already have their plants in the ground, too. Please let me know if there’s any questions.
Are wood chips allowed for mulch? I’m pretty sure we can find a tree company or maybe the city’s tree department to get a free truck load of chips. Having the path between plots would be nice too.
Would there be other planting beds/landscaping areas they could be used in? I’d need to have an idea of how much to ask for, assuming they’re allowed.
All the mulch we have spread in the communal area is “arborist mulch”. We certainly don’t have anything agaist it so long as it’s clean. That said, we are awaiting some to finish the communal area and path. You can use organic mulch on your own plot, but must respect other’s plots (probably hand loading) and may ne required to remove it at the end of the season. I think rubber/synthetic and dyed muches are off limits. We can discuss this further at the meeting next Sunday.
