Maker Monday is our open house event. It’s a great way to experience the makerspace and the maker culture in person. You’ll learn all about our space, tools, policies, people, and how we operate.

Our tours are free and open to the public. While you are welcome to just show up, we prefer that you register in advance so we have enough members on hand to assist with our tours.

You are welcome to hang out and chat after your tour. There’s always something interesting going on at Maker Monday!

This session will including a short slideshow about MakeICT and then an in-depth tour of the facility. Members will also sit down with a number of leadership and peer members for a brief discussion to allow us to get to know you. At the end of this session, you will get your key to the building so that you can come and go as you please.

3D Printing Basics

Learn the basics of 3D printing and how to use the printers at MakeICT.

We'll cover how 3D printing works, materials used in 3D printing, importing 3D files into slicer software, and techniques for successful printing. Each participant will get a chance to practice with the software and print a small object to take home.

Completion of this class will grant authorization for using the 3D printers at MakeICT.

Laser Cutting Basics

This class will teach participants how to use the 80 watt CO2 laser cutters at MakeICT. We will be using Inkscape and LightBurn software to create and cut a simple project.

Participants will learn the capabilities of the laser cutter, machine and material safety, and operation of the machine in Cartesian (flat) mode. All participants will complete a small project to practice running the machine. Intermediate computer proficiency is recommended. Users should be comfortable with web browsing, Windows file folder navigation, copy and paste shortcut keys, and mouse operation.

Make a Reversible Bag

Reusable bags are great for carrying anything. Use them to bring your next project to the space! This basic class will teach how to make a reversible, reusable bag. Skills taught will be using the cutting mat to measure and cut large pieces of fabric, using a quilting ruler to measure and cut handles, how to add a pocket to a project, how to install handles on a project, how to add a liner, and basic use of a sewing machine.

Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day, but this group LOVES 3D Printing!

3D Printer Group is a monthly get-together for people to share their enthusiasm for all things 3D Printing. Bring your questions, show off your creations, share your expertise, and even bring your own printer if you want. If you’re new to 3D printing, experienced, or just curious, everyone is welcome.

This month, we’ll also have a hands-on activity to install heat set inserts in 3D printed parts.

You can choose between a square or a rectangular shaped small pouch. These reusable pouches are awesome for keeping plastic baggies out of the landfills as well.

This class will teach cutting fabric with a ruler, adding a liner, installing a zipper, and basic use of a sewing machine.

THIS CLASS IS BEING OFFERED IN 2 SESSIONS EACH LASTING 1 HOUR. 8 PEOPLE PER SESSION. FIRST SESSION IS FROM 6PM TO 7PM. SECOND SESSION IS FROM 7:30PM TO 8:30PM.

This class is for those interested in using the CNC ShopBot in the woodshop. During the class, students will design a wooden ring on Easel.com and carve out said ring on the ShopBot. Carving on the ShopBot is quick and accurate, so each person will have the chance to operate the ShopBot themselves and take home a small token of their hard work.

In this class, we’ll be making Valentine's Day Cards!
Participants will learn how to prepare a multicolor screen printing job on paper and have a chance to print a short stack of cards.

The process here is similar to One-Color screen printing. Cards will sit to dry until the second color is applied. (This is different than the process used for printing on fabric; I daresay it's easier.)

Large and small sheet metal brakes
Drill press
Hand grinders
Horizontal band saw
Vertical band saw
Chop Saw
Other equipment not listed may require further authorization. This class is required before taking most other metalworking classes or workshops.
Safety glasses are available but we recommend bringing your own if you can.

This class will cover safety of the powder coating area, powder coating gun, air compressor and the powder coating oven. You will get to powder coat an item to take home to show off to your friends! Once you complete this class you be authorized to use the powder coating equipment.

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a “skin”. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals.

Manual Mill Basics will cover the basic parts of a manual mill while also going thru proper use and operation of the EMCO manual mill.
The end project will include basic operations such as facing, squaring, drilling, and counter boring.

Safety glasses are required.

Metalshop Safety must be completed before signing up for this class.
