I have updated the calendar to reflect our activities with Drew and the timeframe needed. We will be in Room 3 since Orientation is in Room 4 that day.

A friend, Drew, has agreed to join us on the 30th to talk tools and field general questions. He won’t be able to make it until 8, though. I hope many of us will be able to stick around to pick his brain. I figure the first hour could center on defining our goals for this group, then those aspirations could drive our Q&A with Drew.
I would love to build a banjo from a tin. I already have the metal container for the body I need the neck and some help. In all honesty I don’t have a clue how to play it.

Added refinements to the Strat model. Changed cutaway fillets to be smaller (broken edges- sanding). Changed the belly cutaway to be an oblique(angled) cylinder instead of a cone. I also added some color.
Late to the party here but I’m rather intrigued. I’ll keep an eye on this page and am curious to see how things go for you guys! I have two guitars and never crossed my mind to attempt to make one. Thank you for creating the resource page for this!
Goodness, from the looks of your models, I’d definitely be behind. Plus I have zero experience with any of the machines I think would be involved to do this. Mine would probably end up being a cardboard box with rubber bands
Yeah you are not behind much Kat. :
I used to teach CAD as my job… so I tend to go a bit overboard on that score. I’m not much of a woodworker, so it is hard for me to contribute there. I haven’t even picked out what guitar for sure to make. I am leaning towards a Mustang. (Its hard for me to decide since I am a drummer and haven’t done anything with guitar at all really… but I decided drums would be too hard to build.)
Thus was made at the old Makerspace location with a cigar box from Morts, and a piezo-electric from the electronics lab. After a bit of tuning, he managed to get some pretty good notes out of it.
Guys, I’m horrible sorry, but I have to call in sick today. And my next Tuesday is already booked up with the woodworking guild presentation. You are all (any of our makers, not just guitar club) more than welcome to come by for that, it’s held 7pm at the Sedgwick County Extension Office. I forget this month’s topic, but it will be presented by Jesse Busenitz who is hosting the 2nd woodworkers meetup, which is also giving MakeICT a booth to show off our stuffs!
