[ Kim talks about blade setting like Kez’s sole MO on blades isn’t: “is it shiney? Cool, it must be there…” ]:rofl:

Yes, we can talk about blade setting. That didn’t even occur to me. Bring your questions and come on!

However, I will say that I am now maxed out at 3 potential people. cuz time. :woman_shrugging:t3: If there’s more interest, we’ll have to schedule another day

Kez:

Side note: Gemma, this would be a great opportunity if you wanted to take notes and update the wiki. Cuz the wiki for the vinyl cutter could definitely be improved

Great idea! Will do

My Monday/Tuesday/Thursdays are my later afternoon classes, unfortunately. Wednesday, Friday, and weekends are my more free days. I appreciate the offer, though!

Would tomorrow work better? I just have a hard cut off of 7p.

~~The earliest I can realistically get there is going to be 6 – my class gets out at 5:15 and then I’ll hustle there on my bicycle from WSU. ~~

… I might let them out early because I have an idea for some outside work for them to do… but I will probably be there close to 6.

Thanks for doing this!

… actually, just checked my wife’s calendar and I’m needed elsewhere on Thursday. Only day it doesn’t work out. Oh well.

Maybe @gemma can practice what she learns by teaching me? That’s a great way to reinforce learning

To try to schedule a future one with maybe @kim or @gemma reinforcing their learning by showing me how to use it - is there a time on a Wednesday / Friday / Saturday / Sunday that would work to help me get started on it as well?

Friday evenings are usually good for me.

Would 5 work as a time? The woodshop authorization I’ve signed up for starts at 6 this Friday.

Yep, that works for me!

@hammond @gemma @kim
The vinyl cutter raspberry pi decided it needed attention. So the IT people are working on it. (thanks guys!! @SteveO @ssaner).

When they tell us it’s back up and running, let’s plan another “play with vinyl” night. Maybe even set it up as a class…

Happy Thursday.

Thanks for the heads up and your working trying to help us get onboard!

So @gemma, we’ll cancel our Friday at 5 also.

See you all around the space!

The vinyl cutter has been fixed and is operational. At least so far as I can tell. I ended up rebuilding the Raspberry Pi from scratch. It seems to work as expected. Let me know if you have any trouble.

You rock, Steve!

Hey @Kez does any day work for you this week? Wednesday and Friday evenings are open for me.

Thank you so much Steve!!

Gemma, so my week is pretty packed. Friday is my only potentially free evening. We can tentatively plan for it. Problem is, I won’t know if I’m able to do anything Friday evening until Friday about…5p. I totally don’t mind planning for Friday at (since I was late last week:woman_facepalming:t3:) 6p, but I might be canceling at the last minute (or earlier in the day depending on how doctor visits go).
Or we could go for next week.

If y’all have the flexibility, I’d honestly prefer Friday, I’m just a little worried I’m gonna have to postpone to the next week.

Let me know your thoughts.

Friday schedule has been shook up (Mondays, :woman_shrugging:t3: what can I say).

Does Friday @6p work? @gemma @kim @hammond

Howdy,
Due to a scheduling conflict with one person, another out sick, and not hearing from the third, I’m going to call this meeting of maker minds “canceled”.

I am happy to schedule another time in the next 2-3 weeks if anyone is still interested.

In the mean time, @ssaner I will stop by sometime in the next week and test out the vinyl cutter, put it through the paces. Thanks for your work on it!!!

Hey @ssaner @SteveO @FabLab ,

Turned on the vinyl cutter and attempted to go forth and conquer. It didn’t work. :frowning:

'sup everybody.

steve did magical things, from what I’ve heard. the vinyl cutter has been reliably working for me now every time I’ve gone in… I made some donor signs, cut some stickers, remembered the buttons, all around good time.

Every time I’m seen using the vinyl cutter somebody is like “oooh is there a class for that?” so I threw a small class on the calendar for December 9th.

BUT THEN I remembered heck… it’s all thanks to @Kez that I got into this again! So KEZ if you want to teach the classes do not let me stand in your way, set the next one, or we can tag team it, whatever you want I do not need to be The One for sure!

I don’t know that I did anything magical. I just resurrected it from the dead…

Not sure if @Kez is around much right now. I was sort of gearing up to teach a vinyl cutter class. I am still willing to do that but I don’t mind at all, Kim, if you want to do it. As you might have already noticed, there is a slideshow attached to the wiki page that can be used in a class. I have done a little work on cleaning up a MakeICT logo design that can be used as a demo design. I can give that to you if you want it.

If you are looking for a new person to start teaching, recruit someone or a couple of someones who take the first class to be teachers. Look for the most enthusiastic ones.

Yup, I was going to use those same slides, and a LOT of the wiki, I’ve beefed up that page a bit this week to support the workflow.

Sounds like vinyl cutter class is covered between Steve and me and may future Kez
