Before I chuck this machine on my recycle pallet, I wanted to see if anyone would like to give it a good home. It is 18 years old but still works like a champ! Most recently I pulled it out of the depths of the server closet after a couple years nap, threw a fresh copy of WS2012 R2 on it and used it as a test rig for VEEAM Backup for a little over a month (which I was happy with and am moving forward with on much newer hardware). It’s a little slow trying to run stuff it wasn’t meant to…, but it chugged right along.
Drives are wiped and ready to rumble.
Specs as best I remember:
- PowerEdge 1800 tower
- Dual Xeon 3.0 GHz processors
- 6 GB memory
- Mirrored pair, 150GB drives
- 4 available drive bays
- SATA RAID controller
- CD-ROM (works)
- Ancient SCSI tape drive (status unknown)
- SCSI adapter does work
- 1.44 MB Floppy for giggles
- Dual power supplies, plus one spare
