Was this for stuff always supposed to last for weeks? I don’t feel like that was conveyed, if it was.

I am not sure I understand your question. There was a closure to work on this a few weeks ago but due to an insufficient time to dry, the floor was damaged by footsteps and this to repair the issue, complete the whole building, and allow plenty of time for it to dry.

Maybe I missed it, but I was not aware that there was more maintenance needed. I thought that all of the work was supposed to be done in one day, which then spilled into 2 days, but that was the last update I had seen. I did find it strange that the stuff from the hallway was still in the woodshop (and I assumed other areas). I do not recall seeing anything saying there was more work to be done but did notice the footsteps.

Aside from the footsteps, I thought the floor looked really bad. Is that just the result of having not been maintained? The wax or whatever is put down seems very uneven and does not seem to have a very consistent sheen. Kinda reminds me of the look of the mop n glow we used on the barracks floor before inspections, not the smooth, shiny floor in the school house left from stripping and waxing.

Yes, there were a few different issues that occurred. We expected one day to be enough but stripping the old finish from the floors took longer than anticipated. Then they were rushing to get the new wax down which didn’t have time to set. They tried using fans, causing drips to form and “wavey” looks.

This shutdown is to allow them enough time to do it ALL in one go.

We apologize for the shutdown but it needs to occur in this fashion to ensure it is properly applied. JaiPal has worked with the contractor and they are confident that they have figured out the issue. The discussion in the Board Meeting included the reasons for the original issue and we are working to fix it moving forward.

Most of the membership was I’m sure not at the board meeting and likely has not reviewed the minutes. It would have been nice for the original floor thread to have been updated with all of this information. It’s only because I was feeling kinda lazy after maker Monday that I didn’t stick all of the stuff that was in the wood shop back in the hallway. Again, if I’ve missed some communicate that explained all of this, I apologize.

On that note, it would be nice to have the board minutes posted.

Unfortunately, only four non-board members came to the board meeting on Thursday where this was discussed. @jpalschauhan is coordinating cleaning up the hallway and ensuring that is coordinated like the last time. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out directly.

I will make an update to the original post from the last floor cleaning.
