Unlocked window 1-3-25

Another unlocked window in Fab Lab

This makes me so mad. I have a new idea. Shock collars! Person opening a window is required to wear it. If they don’t close the window, they can’t remove the collar. When they leave the property, if they still have it on, it lets them have it!

This may be the only solution! I love it.

Has anybody thought about broaching the idea of tap-card-to-enter systems for the labs? Kinda what we have at the front door, only slightly more specialized? Would be a bit easier to keep track of who is entering or exiting rooms, should something go missing, or a window be left continuously unlocked.

Another Solution:
Screw all windows shut.
Remove existing window lock.

it’s been discussed in the past. Generally, the cons win the argument: expensive, difficult to execute, possibility to create a prohibition to rendering help for a person in need in the shop, still not an answer to people with a general lack of responsibility.

We know who used the building that day, should we at least shoot a note to those specific folks for awareness? Not everyone reads the forum.

I don’t know if this is an answer or not, but how hard would it be to implement something to know who sets the alarm? Something like having to use your badge to do so?

This may lead them to not set the alarm.

That seems reasonable.

Had a guy complain that the CO2 levels were too high in the textile lab and was the reason for opening the windows during freezing weather. He did close the windows when he left. Are high CO2 levels something to be looked into?

I wonder how the CO2 levels were checked.

He had some sort of meter.

That is something worth looking into. I do have questions though?
Did they mean Carbon Monoxide or Carbon Dioxide?
What was the measured CO2 level?
What type of device was used?
Where was the measurement taken and how many independent measurements were taken?
I noticed the side panel of the heater was off when giving a tour last week. (this mystery has been solved).
