I recently found out that some museums are uploading their collections to databases such as Morphosource. Being a lover of all things prehistoric, I took the opportunity to find a dinosaur skull so that I could throw that puppy onto my 3D printer (Ender 3 V3 SE). I printed the skull and the base using Overture’s Fossil Rock filament. The stand the skull sits on was printed using Overture’s Glow in the Dark filament after I upgraded to a hardened steel nozzle to accommodate the abrasive strontium aluminate used in the filament (the “glow” part of the filament).
In the future I would like to add a nameplate to the front of the base with the name of the specimen, the name of the species, and the date the animal was discovered.
