St. Pats Parade

We have details on where and when to meet up with the Great Plains Renaissance Festival for Saturday’s parade.

I’m planning to grab a utility trailer, the ballista, and one of the top chunks of the towers (along with the MakeICT flag and the Wichita flag).

From Davis:

OK, WE HAVE A SCHEDULE! CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF PARADE or something like that. Anyway, here’s what we all need to know - there’s going to be some map images in the comments, too. Read the entire thing, of course

  1. We are on the Douglas Street Bridge, entry #20

  2. The trucks and trailers will arrive at 10:30 AM as per faire instructions (trucks and trailers will rally elsewhere, as we much arrive as a group)

  3. If you show up before 10:30 AM and ask someone where our entry is, etc., you will be mocked by me

  4. Trucks and trailers: we will rally at North Lynnwood Park at 9:45, giving us plenty of time to make our way there. Park on the north most street bordering Lynwood Park (Park Street). We will travel as a pack to improve our hunting technique. Wait, no, it’s so all vehicles in our group arrive at the same time, as per the parade requirements.

  5. For those who need a ride, and those who would like to provide a ride, please rally at Lynwood park.

  6. I will have tickets for us to hand out, and banners to hang an flags to fly. I will provide further instructions on handouts, but it sums to up to this: do not hand out anything besides kids tickets and candy (if we have any). Not other fliers will be handed out, per the event rules

  7. While we wait from 10:30 to noon, we’ll do the usual hanging of banners, assembly of stuffs, etc.

  8. We will have (I believe) 4 vehicles and trailers total.

  9. If you’re planning on sitting on one of the trailers, please bring a pillow to sit on.

  10. The parade route is provided below - you’ll notice it’s sort of vague where we actually stop at: WPD will direct us apparently. Which means the parade will end in even more chaos than last time, since 1st Street is closed

  11. After the parade, The Great Plains Renaissance Festival will be feeding everyone chili and / or baked potatoes with fixin’s (if you RSVP). If you want to bring a desert or some addition to it all, you’re more than welcome eo

  12. That feed will take place at North Lynwood Park.

So we can put candy in the ballista to reach the kids in the back right?

It’d give jaw breaker a new meaning…

I think I remember that we had to hand the candy to the kids last time. No throwing at them.
