Anyone know what the “c” channels in the corners of this aluminum square tube are called? What is their purpose? I don’t believe it is structural, but perhaps it is a channel for screws to go into in order to attach something along the cross section?

Possibly to attach an endcap.

Are you looking for some? This is a slightly specialized shape, as many extrusions are.

“screw ports” seems to be what these are called.
I’m not looking for any now, mostly asked for educational purposes. I just had a piece with these and wasn’t entirely sure about them.
