Small tool repairs

Hey guys,

Finished repairing one of the DeWalt angle grinders last night. The power was coming on intermittently when the trigger was pulled, so I tore down and cleaned up the grinder while replacing several parts:

  1. the power cord that was held together with electrical tape (seemed to be the root cause of the problem)
  2. The switch the power cord feeds into (tends to be a common failure point)
  3. The motor brushes (while not completely worn, they were closer to the end of their life than the start)

Here are what the worn brushes (on the right) looked like next to a new brush:

For future reference:

IF SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING PERFECTLY, PLEASE SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT ON THE FORUMS OR BY EMAIL TO THE LEAD. It’s a lot easier to fix something if we know it’s not working.
