Sawstop brake

The tablesaw is out of commission for a bit. The brake activated while I was using it, not sure what happened, no fingers near it, no screws or anything, using a miter T in the guides for a small cross cut. Tried to contact woodshop lead. No reply. I would change it but don’t know how. Willing to learn

it’s not that hard to change out, however, you might be on the hook for a new sawstop and blade ($130 was the cost for me.) unless theyve changed the policy again. fyi

i think @doug.wilson is the lead now.

The blade was probably overdue for replacing, but the brake is $100. I suspect that the miter gauge was struck when it was accidentally used in the right t- slot instead of the left. But this may be an old scar, so it’s hard to say.

Our policy is that replacement cost is NOT expected to be recovered from those causing the damage. Such a policy would only encourage dishonesty. Thank you for being forthright about the incident. If you feel generous and would like to make a contribution, great. But it’s not mandatory.

Anyway, she’s up and running with a brand new blade. And a better one, too. Happy making!
