This afternoon we had a legitimate SawStop trip.
A member (who has given me permission to post this) was attempting to move some small scrap from beside the blade with their finger and made contact with it. The safety mechanism worked perfectly and they got away with a small scratch.
Let this be a lesson to all of us.
Always be aware, and stay fully clear from the blade of any and all machines!!!

Wow. Thank goodness it worked. I always fear I will have to use my out of date first aid training.

keep fingers… what is it on the table saw? 2 or 3"? away from the blade!
Glad they’re safe and willing to let us all learn from this, thanks for posting aaron!

My instruction is to keep a minimum of 3" away (6" on jointer) from all blades and cutterheads or under the planer body

so a retake of the safety class and foot the bill for a new blade and stop, are in order?
Glad it worked!!
Are you sending the pic and brake to sawstop for a free replacement? Isn’t that what they say they will do for a pic of it working?
