Rubber Band Car Creators needed

We’ve just come back from the Tulsa Maker Faire and while we were preparing, we looked at some rubber band car ideas.
I think we should totally do rubber band cars… so here is what I am thinking.
We get a group of people together on our Thursday Education meeting and go create a list of criteria for a rubber band car contest for the makerspace.
Criteria would probably be based on cost, size and perhaps weight. We could rate on distance or speed or cuteness… whatever we decide
Then we create the contest and bring the makerspace together to battle with their designs.

Afterward, we make either some classes for kids on designing rubber band cars and/or have contests for them and/or bring the project to any makerfaires/events we have with kids (or adults who act like kids)

This sounds great. I’d been thinking about suggesting doing a pinewood derby at MakeICT (because I helped put one on at work this spring) but honestly it ends up being quite a bit of work and this seems like a much lower barrier.

Do recommend having it broken down into functional vs cuteness categories.

That’s exactly the kind of thing we should decide on in the meeting on Thurs. What are good criteria… and other rules.

The Derby looked like fun. I knew some of the contestants.
