Router lift

Does anyone know what happened to the router lift in the woodshop? I went to use it this morning and the threads were stripped.

Unfortunately, it’s common for makers to unnecessarily over-lift the router, as though it will magically raise itself above the table; a veritable holy relic for all to bask in its glory as it hovers above the table, ready to take flight. Maybe if they kept cranking the lift, it will carry them up to the heavens, where they can work on tools that never need maintained or repaired. Pure glory.

Honestly, I’m not sure how this happens. It baffles me how people can crank on a mechanical lift, and continue to crank past the point of use, and then continue to crank past the point of obvious resistance. I’m not sure what their end-game is in these scenarios.

I will do what I can to repair this on Sunday. And I’ll stop in tonight to see if I can make a temporary work-around.

Doug, thanks for your response. I can sympathize with your frustration. I was a high school shop teacher very many years ago and it looks like things haven’t gotten any better. It’s probably a good thing I got out of teaching or I might have homicided one or more of them. Too bad the equipment isn’t idiot proof. Anyway, I appreciate your help.

Fixed it. Back to work, everybody!

Oooh, does it float and levitate now?

Seriously, thanks for all the repairs you’re doing.

we all float down here…
