Yes. It may be a bit too late now but still interested. Thou I think certification is needed in another area first, still working out the details. 
Yes, I would recommend taking the Metal shop safety class first.

I would like to learn how to use the rock shiner and the jewelry making equipment. I would like to learn how to make rings, and set stones.
