We cannot fire here at cone 5 when the bottom is fully glazed and there is no way to protect our kiln shelves from these adhering to the kiln shelf when the glaze melts when fired.
The bottoms need to be wiped clean of glaze using a damp sponge.
If we tried to fire these on stilts they would warp in the kiln.
Hello! I am the creator, I am terrible at checking online. But the blue and red is just underglaze. The yellow I made sure to leave enough space that it won’t stick to the kiln shelves, I used stroke and coat.. The clear glaze I used is a cone five glaze that doesn’t run, they are also thin coats.
They came out of the kiln and look great!
When you use Underglaze that won’t stick to shelves, please let us know by leaving a note on your work so we know they are safe to fire. It is impossible for us to tell what each piece has on it otherwise.
Also remember, SOME underglazes still can stick in kiln firing, so keep an eye on that potential issue and use a cookie or stilt under if ever what you use is a potential concern. Thank you.
