Reclaimed wood use authorization

I don’t remember how to get approved to use reclaimed wood. Can someone let me know? I’ve got some pallet stringers I’d like to use. Obviously I need to ensure there are no nails, rocks, etc. and no pressure-treated stuff. I think I saw a metal detector in the wood shop the other day-- I assume it works.

Thanks.

No special approval is needed, as currently described in the wiki page.

“Most woods are allowed in the woodshop, but to protect machinery as well as to protect other members, only WELL INSPECTED reclaimed lumber free of sand, gravel, nails, screws, staples or finish will be allowed in the shop. Pressure treated lumber is hazardous and will NOT be allowed ANY time.”

The metal detector should be in the bottom drawer of the red tool chest in the room with the saws.

Thanks, Roy.

Thanks for the clarification, Mike.

If you are dealing with pallets, be aware that foreign made pallets are made from what that locality considers Junk Wood. (Very Common)
I had a pallet come into work that was made of Purpleheart. I have found several other pallets that are not just reclaimed wood.
