We had a queen size mattress on a full size frame in our guest bedroom for a while. It kinda reminded me of a slice of Sbarro’s pizza the way the unsupported edges drooped a little. We don’t have a box spring, so we decided to make a bunk board. It’s a giant torsion box construction to fit under the queen mattress. It turned out nice and seems super sturdy.

When it’s assembled, does it look like it’s free-floating?!
It looks a little “floaty” we just put it in a standard metal frame. You can still see the legs of the frame, but it looks pretty clean otherwise. It is a really thick mattress, so finished height worked out really nice without a box spring.
