Looking for some good videos, tips, etc about how to precisely align an engraving on regularly and irregularly shaped objects. Any direction to get started would be helpful as I’m not getting Google to cooperate.

I use a lot of fixturing for stuff like that. Did so when I used the laser cutters more. Still do for machining and fabrication jobs. If the post doesn’t have any good datum, create a fixture that does.
