Please don't abuse the equipment

Tried to use the miter saw this evening and found the cut to be very ragged and the sound was wrong. Discovered that the blade was badly damaged. This didn’t happen without somebody knowing it happened.

This likely was the result of carelessness or improper use of the saw, either of which could have resulted in severe injury.

I just replaced the fence the other day. I have installed the spare blade but it’s a coarse tooth. I’ll try to get a finer blade this week.

If something happens that damages or breaks equipment, please let somebody know.

I’ve never seen a circular saw blade take that kind of damage to the teeth.
What the heck could’ve done that?

Best guess, trying to cut something that wasn’t seated against the fence. Part shifted and got cocked, maybe wedged between the blade and the blade guard it the fence.

miracle they still have a thumb

Was there any blood on the scene!

Lol. No blood. Just a mess of sawdust from a job not cleaned up after, which has unfortunately become the norm it seems. I do appreciate the people that do clean up after themselves, but a person can deep clean the woodshop and 5 minutes later somebody else can come in and make and leave a huge mess without a care in the world. I just wish there was more being excellent taking place or that the excellence wasn’t so easily overshadowed by the opposite.

I’m guessing cutting into something and then pulling the saw into the material. Which one should never do, since it can move the material away from the fence and pinch the blade.
