Please clean up and report issues

@Woodshop

2 days ago, The Sawstop wasn’t moving up or down, the person who noticed it also found the cabinet was full of dust.

I went cleaning in there, and found that probably most of the reason was the dust collector hose wasn’t connected, and that the worm gear was caked with compacted sawdust. I got that mostly cleaned off, and it’s a lot easier, but I do rather wonder if the shaft and/or a bearing near the gear are bent/broken. (Hope I’m wrong, but I didn’t take it apart.)

Then yesterday, while checking on some things found what looked like an anomalous reading on the dust sensor, where it was crazy high after not working (It is sometimes not working because it’s caked with dust), I and @stephan checked it out, and it was super dusty, and I thought I almost smelled smoke. Between open windows, dust collector, fans and such we got it to basically where the rest of the building is, which frankly is high. With that, We ended up cleaning it up a batch. Basically 2 full barrels of dust, 2 trash cans, and a lot of stuff that hasn’t been swept. It’s better, but still needs cleaning.

We did find some charred sawdust by the chop/miter saw, and the saw blade seems like it’s seen a lot better days and looks like it got really warm, so @whateg01 should probably take a look at that to see if we need/want to replace the blade.

Please, Try to leave stuff cleaner and better than when you got there, and if there’s an issue just tell people.

An additional note, several weeks ago I went in to cut some dados on the sawstop. When I was changing the blade and cartridge back to the normal ones from the dado blade and dado cartridge, I accidentally dropped the nut and right hand bearing into the bowels of the saw. To retrieve them, I had to clean out the entire interior of the saw.

Same issue that James mentioned, just not as extreme of quantity.

I will echo what James is saying, please clean up after yourself. It make life so much easier for everyone else.
