Old electric guitar rebuild

Refurbished electric guitar

I bought an electri guitar body off evilbay, part of my multi-step process towards building an electric guitar. Cool faux snakeskin paint job. Intended to buy a new neck, electronics and other hardware. Then assemble. Right?

OMG the finish on the body couldn’t have been of poorer quality. Rough, like horned lizard skin rough. And smelly.

I did use the body as a profile template when i skipped ahead and built a guitar.

Decided to get back to refurbishing that guitar body. Stripped the awful snakeskin paint by scraping. And underneath was a beautiful and incredibly durable and mostly intact metallic blue paint. Decided to build a guitar around that. The body sides were bare, exposed what looks like a mostly mahogany body.

Long story short, there were many bumps in the road. Fortunately i got advice along the way and was able to work through all the issues.

And today, i put strings on, tuned up, hooked it up to my fx pedals and baby amp, and it made noise! Perfectly glorious noise.

Won’t bore anyone with the details of all the problems, but suffice to say that guitar makers love to change specs between one decade and another. Even if they don’t change the name.

Still needs control knobs, guitar strap buttons (and strap), control cover in the back. And probably a deeper check of the guitar setup. But very pleased with the progress.
