Noisy ceiling fans

Both of the ceiling fans in the lounge make a loud, regular clicking sound when running. Last year it was just the one furthest from the door, and it wasn’t too hard to ignore, but now the close one has started clicking and the far one has become quite loud. The sounds overlap each other and it’s hard to bear, especially with autism.

From what I’ve read online it may be one of several problems and all should be easy to fix, but I don’t know enough about ceiling fans to feel confident diagnosing or fixing them myself. I’m also not sure I could reach the fans even with a ladder.

Thank you for letting us know.
Fixing ceiling fans is not one of my specialties, though I am game to try it. I usually just replace them. Can you link to the articles that you have read with solutions, we will try them out.

This one gives descriptions of different types of fan noise and what each sound likely means.

General overview. I checked a few Reddit threads, too, but none of them had the exact same sound ours make.

Thank you!
