So a little backstory, while I was folding this knife using San Mai method, I broke off my work stick. Undeterred I got it re-welded, then went to fold it one last time because I was displeased with the excessive pitting. The weld split completely and turned into what you see in the picture. I thought it was completely destroyed, but then had an idea to shorten the blade an inch and make a modified push tang out of the broken end. I wouldn’t do it for any other type of knife, but a steak knife doesn’t need the mechanical strength of a normal knife, so I pinned it at an angle, fitted a handle with some wood shop scrap and et voila!
