Well, I learned a new skill today — and it’s a game changer.
I’m making appliqué dinosaurs and unicorns for some upcoming quilts, and started by cutting out the outlines. Originally, I planned to hand-sew the details… but then I had a wild idea: what if I laser-burned the details directly into Minky fabric?
Turns out — it works beautifully and it’s safe.
I double-checked that Minky is laser-compatible, and it passed the test.
On the far left are the plain cutouts
On the right, you’ll see the new laser-detailed versions.
New method of appliqué officially unlocked. Can’t wait to see how these look stitched into the final quilt.
There was a small spot but i burned low power, fast, and multiple times.
Two prople asked for a class on doing some of the stuff ive made. I plan in january to do a few classes on the lasers. Love working them and creating nrw things
