The Jewelry Lab has been redone!
With the addition of the vacuum casting system, our Jewelry Lab will be able to produce jewelry to any degree of fineness.
We have a pledge drive in progress to raise half the cost of the new casting system with the Board of Directors pledge the other half.
Once installed we can cast any thing you can create in almost any non ferrous metal
VACUUM CASTING MakeICT
The board has approved the purchase of a vacuum casting machine to be located in the Jewelry Lab.
What does this mean for MakeICT?
If you work in any area at MakeICT, you have a reason to use the new vacuum casting machine!
For example:
Textiles: you can use lost wax casting to create; Viking culture ornaments, military buttons, historical accouterments, and many more, historically accurate materials.
Metal shop: Casting metal is a standard way of working, as it minimizes the need for machining.
Wood shop: Accents for your wood project, in non-ferrious.
3d printing: Turning those lovely 3d prints you create in to metal. Works directly with PLA.
Ceramics: Metal tools designed to fit your needs and cast just for you.
Electronics Rapid Prototyping: Custom supports along with other parts that may not be available.
Gamer: Create your character and other objects in, any non ferrous metal.
What we need: The board has asked the membership to pledge half of the cost of the vacuum caster, with MakeICT pledging the other half.
The Jewelry lab has determined that the Kayacast XL is the best caster to meet the needs of MakeICT
