Could you tell us a little more about what you might offer? Would this be for a small part (say, fits in a 9" cube?) with “machinist” precision (say, 0.003"?) or a large part (say, a renaissance faire castle or a house?) with “carpenter” precision (say, 1/16"?) Would it have something like a Faro arm (whether real or virtual/wireless) to get into shadowed areas or hidden corners? This is an interesting idea, please tell us more.
(P.S.: No offense intended to either machinists or carpenters.)
Yes i may have talked to you about 4 months ago!
I would like to have some simple scans done about silver dollar size!
Please call me direct at 316-258-8620 Thanks.
Sure thing. I have two scanners a Revopoint Miraco Pro and a Revopoint Range.
The Miraco claims:
Accuracy: up to 0.05mm
Precision: up to 0.02mm
Minimum Volume: 10mm x 10mm x 10mm
Maximum Volume: 4m x 4m x 4m
Working distance: 100mm to 1m
Capture area: 28mm x 53mm @ 100mm
The Range claims:
Single-frame Precision: Up to 0.1mm
Single-frame Accuracy: Up to 0.3mm
Single capture range: 360mm x 650mm @ 600mm
Working distance: 300mm to 800mm
Minimum scan volume: 50mm x 50mm x 50mm
Point Distance/Resolution: 0.1mm
I haven’t tried using the miraco on something to verify the accuracy or precision, but the scans it produces are pretty nice. I certainly wouldn’t use it for something that relies on it being perfect, but I did use it to scan an offroad spotlight housing, then I 3D printed a mold to replicate the light but forgot to scale it up to allow for shrinkage. I test fit the actual light in the mold and was surprised how well it fit.
I’m wanting to work with a few people here to work out the expectations, process, file-handling hoops that may be different than when I’m my own customer.
I may be interested in being a guinea pig for your process. Hubby is working on a base for one of his models that he’d like to 3d print to duplicate. Rough size is 5" x 4" x 3" high, with intricate skulls laid out on it. Picture to follow.
Do you have an estimated price range for scanning?
