It looks like somebody printed some more lock out boxes, at least since the last time I paid attention to them. The ones there need to have the hole for the lock drilled out so a lock can fit in them, or better yet, new ones printed with a bigger hole, along with the tab that the hole is in. I’m afraid drilling out the existing ones will weaken what’s left and will almost certainly expose the infill.
Is there a file somewhere with the original lockboxes in there? Adding a new hole, or modifying the existing one, shouldn’t be an issue directly in the slicer, but would require having the original STL file to use. Alternatively, if I saw a picture of the whole thing, maybe finding another STL file would be easy to use. Can’t really tell what these are actually supposed to look like from the close up photo though.
This looks like the ones we have.
I don’t think it really matters that we use this one though. If you know of another that works that would be fine.
Ok, I finally made it back home for a few days, but since I haven’t seen one of these used before, I’m not quite understanding what needs to be done to it. Are you just wanting that smaller hole to be larger, and potentially the tab to be a bit larger as well, to accommodate a standard size LOTO lock? From looking at the file, and your picture, I am assuming that is what you are requesting???
Yeah that’s really all that’s needed. Hole big enough for the padlock to go through and trash big enough to support the bigger hole. Thanks!
I’ve got a test version on one of my printers now that you can take a look at. I can bring it over there, just need to know where to drop it off so you will find it. If you like it, just let me know how many you need and I’ll print em up for ya. The test one I’m doing in fluorescent orange, just because that’s what I had on my fastest printer, and I was too lazy to change it out. Any particular color you want for the others if this will work?
I may be at the space for a little while this evening. Not sure yet. You can stick it behind the front desk somewhere if you want. Here’s a picture of a different style that shows how it is used. If a cord can be placed in it and it can be closed up and padlocked, I think it’ll be fine. I don’t know if color matters, but most I see online are red, as are the ones we have no now.
I printed one is super draft mode just to see what it was and how it worked, and have a stronger one running now I’ll put over there and let ya know. The stronger one will be a while yet, so I’ll probably drop it off in the morning after I finish an early morning dentist appointment… NOT looking forward to that!
See if those work. Decided to play a bit with it. The one in the back is a bit rough because I chose the wrong filament type, but it’s still functional. Let me know if that works or if you need some other modification. Can redo in red as well if you like. It’s all learning for me and already know what I’d do a bit different.
These work great! Thank you for providing them! The logo is a nice touch as well.
If you would like them, there are three more lock boxes in the same place. Was trying to see if I could get the logo smaller without getting into some other methods to deal with the shrinking detail but only got it down a little bit in size before everything went south. These are also red in color rather than orange.
I’m not sure how many total you needed but I’m guessing this may be more than enough.
If you find yourself needing something else, and I’m in town, I can probably find time on one of my printers for your needs, if you can’t get them done otherwise.
Thanks! These are great! I think we have enough now. I’m not sure what happened to all the ones we had before, but it doesn’t matter. These will work great!
