What happened to this missing part? Any information usas helpful. The big bandsaw can’t bee safely used without it. I’m not mad… just disappointed.
I know there were people using the bandsaw this afternoon, and I used it yesterday. The bandsaw seemed fine…do we know when it went missing? Would I have had performance issues if it was missing when I used it yesterday? I sawed a few 8 x 10 x 1 inch pieces of walnut into twice as many 8 x 10 x 1/2 pieces, and it performed flawlessly then.
It will work fine on straight cuts. But throw a curve in there, and the lateral pressure on the blade goes uninhibited, ruining the cut, the blade and the guard on the bearings underneath.
I am not sure it is related, but there was a similar issue in the metal shop around a month ago. However, the missing bearing on the metal shop bandsaw took it out of service until replaced at a higher cost (being a manufacturers specific part). I’m still scratching my head why someone would take that small bearing when the generic bearings are so cheap on Amazon or over at BRC on Washington…
Hmmm… what surprises me is why would anyone take something while cameras are watching? That seems pretty dumb to me. Of course of it were removed to get a replacement or something, then for gosh sakes tell someone so we don’t have to spend all that time reviewing the tape and looking for a bad guy…
It seems more likely that the spinning bearing fell off the bandsaw while running, possibly rolling off under a heavy workbench or something. It becomes a problem if the user noticed and said nothing
I’m guessing the part fell off and somehow got swept up and tossed. Anyway, a new part has been ordered and is on its way.
Is that a regular skateboard bearing? If so, I’ve got 20 of them, brand new, in my parts bin here. I think they’re 608 bearings.
But how will you go skateboarding?
