Hello all! With Mario being down yesterday I spent some time cleaning and replacing the optics on both laser cutters. The apparent power of the laser has been significantly boosted, and as such, I would recommend re-testing whatever material settings you are using. For context, both lasers can cleanly cut through 1/8" masonite/fiberboard on the default 20 speed 50 power, whereas before it needed around 8 speed and 75 percent power. With this, please take care of the lasers; don’t run the head into the bed or materials, don’t cut things that shouldn’t be cut, and if you see sparks coming out, please stop the laser as the cut isn’t going through!
With this refresh however, I believe the manufacturer mislabeled the new lens on Mario, sending us one with a longer focal length than expected. As such.
PLEASE TEMPORARILY USE THE 24mm FOCUS BLOCK ON MARIO UNTIL NOTIFIED OTHERWISE.
Alternatively, if the 24mm block is missing or unavailable, stack 2x 8mm blocks and 1x 7mm block to achieve the effect. The laser will not cut properly without the proper focus block.
