Am I free to use the MakeICT logo on a “Crafting” business card and/or on a small sign at a craft fair where I am selling my stuff I made at MakeICT? Free publicity, but a for profit endeavor? Is there an acceptable member use policy for the logo?
We have a “Made at MakeICT” logo somewhere on the Wiki I think @kim would be the best to respond.
Actually I did not add it to the wiki but that’s a good idea, I’ll get it there. It’s a sheet of tags that you can cut up and hang off products made at MakeICT.
But back to the original question - there is nothing restricting use of our logo by members and I think it’s a great idea! Maybe we should put some more use guidelines out there, but basically I say let’s take the free advertising, thanks for doing this Brian!
There are also always brochures and flyers up front that anyone can and should steal piles of. Take an entire holder if you want, we can make more! Whether it’s for an event or if you’ve just got an office break room where they can live, get them out in the world!
Not to mention the fact that when we move, these will be obsolete. So yes, take and distribute!

I feel like any questionable logo use should follow the three nerd rule… maybe more of everything should follow the three nerd rule! then we can blame @james.a.seymour if it goes wrong, right? But basically, if you can’t decide if something is right, ask three MakeICT members. If they all think it makes sense and is Good For The Space, do it. That way we don’t have to bring every issue up to the board of directors, and we don’t have to write books and books of policies. Nobody wants that. And if they do want that, well then we wouldn’t want that person in charge of writing policies.
