Lectern

My daughter needed a tabletop lectern for her classroom, so I refined this small wood shelf I had made years ago. I originally used it as a printer stand. It was rough plywood that was painted a couple times over the years. I figured I would sand down to bare wood, add some trim, make it fancy. All that changed with the first swipe of the belt sander. I really liked the paint colors left in the deep recesses. I got it mostly smooth and added some thick clear coats to finish.
