Kiln Rebuild: Phase 2: Element Replacement

She’s all done, buttoned up, and making toast! Well, toasting a nice protective layer of oxidation on the new elements to help them last a good long time.

Next time you stop by Evans Ceramics please be sure and thank Don Evans for coming out and donating his time to show us how to do this. Myself, @ScottS, and @rglazapple were there and learned lots.

Don thinks From looking at the kiln that it is likely 12-15 years old and has never had the elements replaced as it still appeared to have factory wiring. We got a very good long run out of this and hopefully will do well for the next 4-5 years or so at our current firing frequency. The elements that were in the kiln were way way past needing replaced.

And now, a few pictures:

Out with the old!
