I made a PLC -based clock for work. I was originally given the task of creating a dinner bell using electrical parts. This will function as a bell that can be rung anytime, but in clock mode it chimes the Big Ben tones and counts out the hour. The chimes are 1" EMT that I cut and mounted for specific tones and they are struck by small 24 volt solenoids. I used a chime calculator online from www.leehite.org/chimes.htm to get dimensions for cutting and mounting.
