Somebody has damaged the inserts on the jointer and one is missing. I will replace the damaged and missing inserts when I get back into town. In the meantime, please refrain from using the jointer as it will leave a groove in your workpiece.
The jointer will remain down until I can make it back to do the repairs. Yes, repairs. Not just me inserts. I don’t know what it takes to get users not to put stuff through the jointer that shouldn’t be, but I wish I did. Kinda makes me want to have an authorization for the jointer and planer and have badge readers on them.
These are the chipped and broken inserts, not including the one that was completely missing and ruined another member’s workpiece because the screw backed out. And of course, the user who ran metal or rocks or chains through the jointer had to have known something was wrong but still chose not to report it or let anybody know. So, I’m sorry that somebody else’s work was damaged.
The infeed is damaged and will have to be filed down.
And it even damaged the cutterhead, leaving a raised spot so the carbide insert won’t sit down in the pocket correctly.
