This is an open workshop for folks that have technology experience and for folks that are looking for technology information. If you have questions or would like to find people that you can discuss technology issues with, feel free to come on in. We can host a limited number of non-member guests. The host will give a short lecture or talk on a subject and take discussion topics or questions from the audience. If you have technology expertise and would like to provide it, please let the host know so your knowledge fields can be added to the list of volunteers.
Folks, we’re going to do it again Tuesday, Nov. 7th - so plan to come on out if you’d like.
Our last session we covered a potential volunteer management system, a laptop that refused to connect to wifi, questions relating to VPN services and internet privacy, ticketing/project management systems, and half of the attendees branched off into Maker Market discussions.
Our lecture for the next section will be regarding rural, marine, and RV internet access where I will cover Starlink, 5g hotspots, and other access schemes. I’ll also discuss the FCC “Affordable Connectivity Program” and “Lifeline” for means-tested internet access assistance (may be helpful for those on fixed incomes or for family and friends).
I’ll be at MakeICT this evening. I didn’t hear from anyone expecting to come, but if you do still have some sort of tech issue or any questions, I’ll be there. I think Ladeana is also at the space this evening to make a replacement badge, so if you need one go check out her thread: Badges... we don't need no stinking badges... but if you do
Additionally, I’m working on MakeICT issues, so if you’d like to just drop by to discuss the facility, the org, anything at this point I’m fairly read-up on the standing rules and bylaws.
I’m at the space now and will move from the lounge to the classroom at around 6:15pm. We’ll stay until at least 7:30 if no one attends - if you’re coming any time before the end time of 8:30, send a message and we’ll stick around for you. Or you can meet us at the bar
Today’s session we had two non-member guests and two member attend. Here’s what we discussed.
