I’m aiming to be at the CAD meeting, which is slated to end at 8:30.
Great Job! Good to see you at the blacksmith shop.
Transit is falling apart so my weekends are booked for the immediate future.
We managed to get the tent stakes powder coated and all of the walls grommetted tonight.
I think we are in decent shape to setup for the Renaissance fair tomorrow at 10am.
Please note, if you want to be at the booth for the Renaissance faire, YOU WILL NEED TO FILL OUT A WAIVER FOR THE GREAT PLANES RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL OR YOU WILL BE PAYING TO GET IN THE GATE.
Also, vehicles will have to be off fair grounds by 9am. So if you are bringing a big heavy piece to display, please plan accordingly.
Thank you all for the help today!
Talking with a few of the other vendors/acts, it sounded like the day went really well, and they even sold out of tickets at the front gate!
Sunday mornings are typically slow for fair, but we could probably use some extra hands and crowbars to help tear down at 6pm.
Our tent should go down pretty quick, but I know of at least one other group that is short handed with medical issues that could use help tearing down.
I helped out by smiling too much and handing out dozens of brochures this weekend at the Renaissance Faire. I have to say, I was incredibly impressed with our team of volunteers who totally kicked A** making this a reality. Very proud to be a member of MakeICT. Good work team!
Yes! A big thank you to everyone that helped this weekend! This was definitely a great way to spread the word of MakeICT and show them what our brand of fun looks like!

Apparently this was a record breaking event for the turn out. They ran out of tickets on the first day as well as turkey legs on the second day!
I’m not sure how many extra people this will bring in, but there were definitely some good stories to be had, including one of a mother that was reluctant about having to move to Wichita until she heard we had a long arm quilter at the space. We also had the pleasure of a steal drum player playing some music and sharing about his craft while sharing the shade.
well… things may have escalated a bit.
They’ve already decided to invite us back for the spring renaissance festival!
Also, they are apparently cool with us building and firing full scale working siege weapons as a once a day event at the joust field… more details to be hammered out soon.
Way to go everyone!
My hope is for my next personal project to be a roundly 5’ high Whipper trebuchet. I think that’d be a great project to test out before we make a full-size siege weapon. If anyone is interested in helping maybe we can have some workdays after I get a design drafted up?
Sounds like fun. If I can make the work days, I would help.
I could most likely help out in November.
I think I’m going to take it a little easy in October. Lol.
@Ethan.Doak - if you can come up with a parts list, I’ll see if I can work with a few suppliers around town for pricing and do some coordinating to see if there might be a source willing to donate materials. We already know of a source for a stout telephone pole.
That’d be sweet! I think getting a small one built, learn the ropes (heh), then maybe do a cool big one that’s more historically accurate (not the whipper style) for the fair.
I might start cad soon. But, not this week. This week is for rest haha.
Projectile release will be the hardest part. Seige ram would be simple but not to impressive. Ballista are just huge crossbows… a repeating ballista would be neat.
Or go LotR and build a cave troll. For science.
