I need to borrow a not totally obsolete Window Laptop

I don’t have any friends that own a Windows Laptop.

I mean really, who would? LOL

Unfortunately, my Mac is too advanced for the software I need to run, which leaves me with extremely convoluted workarounds.

Will MakeICT loan me a machine for a couple days or weekend, so I complete my project, and get on with my life.

If so, who, where, and when do I need to contact? Will I be able to install two programs on the machine and not have issues with anyone?

Please, only encouraging remarks, I will allow one Macbash though in all fairness. LOL

What is the program you need to run? What are the system requirements? Loaning equipment to members isn’t something that MakeICT typically does, but I (or others) may have something laying around that fits the bill.

I need to run VAT and Bossa. I’m installing updated firmware on my DUET 2 board for a DIY 3D printer. One accesses the com port the other flashes the firmware.

I don’t know what the system requirements are, I would guess minimal. I just need a USB port and WIFI.

Bill, I’m probably not far from you and have a laptop you can borrow.

That’s right. When would you and/ or it be available?

I’ll PM you

Another solution for this, or for future things like this, is to install virtualbox on your main computer and then install some flavor of Windows as a virtual machine.

A good Sumaritan helped me out.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Now I have a friend that has a Windows machine.

Unfortunately, Virtualbox will only run on Intel macs. I’m sure there are other solutions. I hope I don’t have to do this often.

You might give QEMU a try.

The cure looks more difficult then the one time problem.

Borrowing a machine was the safest and simplest solution for my skill set.

Thank for the suggestions

I was able to bring the beast to life. Now to tame it.

If you still need a computer I’ll just give you one to keep and own.

I have a couple intel i5 10th gen lenovo thinkpad L series with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. They will run windows 7, 8, 10, 11 and I think will run a modified version of Mac OS too. Send me a pm if you still need it.
