I need some sheet metal advice

I am building my cnc plasma table I don’t like the drain holes!

Would like to put a sink style drain on both sides does anyone have a tool that can make a flared/dimpled shape in stainless so the drain is recessed below waterline. Figured it was a long shot but if anyone does it would be here.

Simplist way is to make your own die set out of whatever thickness of metal that matches your flange depth. It can be as simple as a plasma cut hole in a piece of steel plate, and then you would sandwich your sheet metal between that and a round piece of plate slightly smaller than the hole before hammering the round plate down flush.

It’s a similar process to joggling flat sheet metal.

Thanks Rustin!
I was hoping someone might have a tool for it just checking

do you plan on draining your table?

Yes plan to put a air tight tank below and drain after each use then apply pressure to tank to refill table when using. This is an attempt to reduce mess since I have made the base mobile

I’ve seen this done before, usually its more trouble than its worth on a small table. I’ll be sure to follow along if you post pictures of your build.

The first thing I thought of was just what Tustin said. You might be able to use a large washer for the top die.

What you’re looking for is, I believe, a dimple die. There’re multiple sizes at this link.

Nice just what I think I need!

I skimmed this thread, but this video would at least be fun to watch if it isn’t helpful for your application 3D Printed Sheet Metal Forming (Part 2) - YouTube

Ethan! YOU Just blew my mind that was a really cool video! I would have never considered 3d printing short run process tooling I need to research this more.
I have that same 20 ton press with air assist upgrade.

Thanks for your contribution it is insightful!
