Help with Victrola 6-in-1 motor on turntable

Hi Makers,

I have a 6-in-1 system that has a broken turntable. It quit working mid-play. I found this guy’s repair, but I don’t know enough about electronics to fix it myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_ujrIynwYU

I’m curious and would like to learn how to fix it. I’ve gotten as far as taking it apart but I don’t know if there’s a bad connection somewhere. Can one of you help teach me what to look for? Thanks!

It’s unlikely that the person who made that video had the same issue as you are having, but it’s possible. Unless there’s an obviously loose wire with it easy to see where it’s supposed to go some basic troubleshooting is needed.

If it’s possible for you to come to our Electronics Meetup that we do every Sunday at 3PM I’m sure people would like to take a look and help you with this repair.

I don’t see anything obvious in the images you included. The number one question is was the belt wrapped around the platter and the spindle of the motor. Question number two is does the motor spin with power applied and the tone arm over the area where the record goes. Assuming that the problem is that the record stopped spinning. If that’s not what happened then in what way is it malfunctioning?
