My lawn mower’s handle cracked around it’s restraining bolt today, and I was wondering if there was anyone here I could consult with about fixing it.
The current thought is that the handle is made of out low grade steel, and may be able to be welded back together.
I’m sure it can be welded back together. I generally like to add a little reinforcement though since that’s a high stress area made worse by there being a hole in it.
Are you wanting to fix it with somebody’s help? Or are you looking for somebody to fix it for you?
I would like to learn more about welding, so I was hoping to fix this with somebody.
Would it be possible for me to bring it in on Maker Monday to get some help with it?
You won’t be able to do the work since you aren’t authorized to use the metal shop, but yes if you bring it with you, I’m sure I or somebody can weld it for you. Remind me and I’ll be sure to be there for maker Monday
I forgot I have to pick somebody up at the airport so I will probably be late getting to maker Monday, if I make it at all. Maybe we can meet up over the weekend.
I should be available at any time over the weekend, so whatever would work for you I can make work
You mentioned the idea of reinforcing it, does the Makerspace have any left over stock I could purchase, or should I go find my own?
I think we can find material to reinforce it
Thanks!
Is there a time that would work for your this weekend?
I think I’m pretty open. This evening might be the best though.
Would you be able to do 4 or 5 pm tonight?
4 pm this afternoon would be fine. You can text me when you arrive.
