Halloween 2024

I have had a few people interested in doing something for Halloween. It used to be one of our more celebrated times of the year. Lately people have waited to the last minute … so not much is done for Halloween. Are there a group of people out here interested? (If so, I can put a meeting time on the calendar…_)

We saved the hanging bat decorations from last year. They are in the Lounge.

Since I booked us up for a giant speed cubing competition on the 26th, should we plan a party for the next day - the 27th? Sunday.

who’s events, or who wants to be on a mini-halloween party planning committee? I figure this does not take much planning.

in the “already planned” category, my october inkscape class is halloween-themed! tell your friends!

Currently the events coordinator position is open… but I am happy to help others plan if there is enough interest. (I am not that big on Halloween myself, so I would have to have a few folks that are really into it to join in.)

Yay!

I will volunteer to be the halloween party coordinator if at least three people reply to this thread to say something like “Heck yeah, I’ll bring a food thing and attend a halloween party on Sunday October 27th around (let’s say) 5pm”

I would be interesting in bringing a food thing and helping out with a party! If it’s warm enough, perhaps we could get the garden committee involved and hold something out there too - maybe like a spooky garden walk or other outdoor activities.

Yes!! We should do a scavenger hunt in the garden! Maybe we can also 3D print glow in the dark pumpkins! OH! AND WE CAN DO THAT STAR PARTY I MENTIONED AWHILE AGO!!

The garden is now planning on doing an open house on the 27th. I still need to get it on the calendar, but it would pair nicely with a Halloween Party at the Makerspace if people are still interested.

I’m still waiting for a 3rd person to reply to weigh in with attendance!

What’s the star party idea? I like stars!

What time is the garden party open house? will it involve costumes? because if the weather is nice, a halloween garden party would be amazing, maybe drift in and out between the library and the garden?

Hopefully we can get one more person soon.

Star Party: A gathering of amateur astronomers to look at the stars. I have a homemade solar filter that I have been using to look at sunspots, and I have been itching to show it off. Mwahahhaha

Garden Party: I was thinking that either 4 or 5 PM would a good time to start. I am going to encourage people to wear costumes. I was also thinking that it would be a good way to get other community gardens out to see what MakeICT is all about. Too many people just don’t know who we are.

I think a Halloween costume party, with access to both the garden and the library, is a wonderful idea. We could potentially have food/drinks/music in the library, and events/games/spooky ambience out in the garden!

If anyone is up for making some kind of PVC pipe critter, this video is a cool one on how to make joints for it.

I’m interested in a Halloween event as long as it includes a garden open house
