Greenware loaded not fired

There’s a full load of greenware in the kiln, it has been there since at least Sunday and looks like it’s ready to be fired. Does anyone know whats going on with it?

I wondered the same thing. Thad, is it going to be able to be fired?

I assume it will be fired by whoever loaded it.

I am sure that someone was trying to be helpful, not knowing what the “system” is. I only know by word of mouth how the kiln firing works. Now we have a conundrum, because member’s are waiting to have bisque ware to glaze, so we can have enough to fill a glaze kiln.
How can we move forward from this? Do we need to unload the kiln so that it can be re-loaded? I can come help with that on Wednesday evening.

I started the kiln this morning. Overall it appeared to be loaded well, from what i could see. Maybe a few pieces a little close to the wall. The kiln sitter was only halfway set, the switch was still in the off position but it was easy to fix. I don’t know what all is in there so I’m firing SLOW just in case, though no signs of moisture after 3 hrs on low. It’s in the final ramp now. I’m planning to unload tomorrow evening.

I think we can do better with guidelines on the kilns/firings. I appreciate all the help but it can be confusing when you have some folks loading and others firing. I know it made me nervous (and no guarantees how it turns out). Honestly, if i didn’t have so many pieces in there I probably would’ve let it sit. I’ll start another post to see if we can get a better process ironed out. Only issue is that I’m not sure everyone participates on the forum but I’m sure we can figure that out.
