Full load- there were even a few more pieces that we, unfortunately, could not squeeze in this firing.
Many nice pieces! Good job makers!!
A few notes-
Several pieces were glazed on the bottoms and were placed on stilts by their maker. Some stuck to their stilts. Sometimes, even bare clay will melt enough to stick to the stilt. It is safer when possible to not glaze the bottom of a piece at all to avoid the need for a stilt.
On pieces not on stilts, be sure the bottoms are wiped clean with a damp sponge or cloth. Any glaze on the bottom, no matter how little, will stick to the kiln shelf when fired. We often have to clean up bottoms on people’s pieces before we can load them into the kiln.
If you layer glazes, be sure to place a cookie under your piece on the shelf, in case your glaze runs or drips during firing.
