Facilities May 5, 2026

Today was a productive meeting:

  • Repaired the rooftop condensing unit for Classroom 4, blown capacitor and sticking contactor. Replaced the capacitor (70mf+5) and contactor.
  • Filled all the hand soap dispensers, refilled the paper towels in Cleaning Supplies closet.
  • Collected 2 large trash bags of aluminum cans from the 3 collection points. John has offered to take them to the scrap yard.
  • We developed a plan for re-routing the gas exhaust from the Hot Water tank so that it will not interfere with the loft area of the old boiler room.
  • 6 new blades are on order for the mower.
  • 2 new ceiling fans have been ordered for metal shop
  • we are missing one spray bottle of detergent, replacements will be purchased
  • discussed and resolved that a backpack sprayer will be purchased for the use of spraying weeds and growth around the base of the building using the herbicide recipe provided by Garden committee
  • It appears that we are going through paper towel rolls at an accelerated rate, it is our preference that members use paper towels from the dispensers rather than grab a roll and carry it into a shop.

44 days have passed since the Board ended our contract with Service Master. Facilities has not been informed of their plan for replacing the service. We are concerned that the common areas of the building are not being cleaned. We are concerned that the bathrooms are not being cleaned. We ask all members, if you are cleaning the bathrooms, hallways, or sink areas please make sure to note your time on the volunteer time sheet so that we may have some idea if it’s being done by anyone.

I am happy to report that we collected 16 pounds of cans at $0.67 per pound netting us a total of $10.72. Keep putting those cans in the recycling bins to help us earn!

Now for the castigation: Used Aluminum foil is not scrap-able with aluminum cans so please stop putting it in the aluminum can bins, this is also true for candy wrappers and paper towels.
Only Aluminum cans go in the Aluminum can recycling bin. Please don’t make me put a sign up.

Good to know on the aluminum foil. i’ve got a 5 gallon bucket overflowing after the castle… wasn’t sure what it counted as despite being some what compacted.

That’s a good question. I think you can still recycle it at All Metal but I don’t know what category it goes under.
