Fabric Glue

Fabric question! I am getting ready to start a new project of making my own Roman style window shades for my windows at home. I’m going to try a no sew method in which you glue the fabric to normal plastic shades… My question, what adhesive is the best to bond fabric to plastic?? I have seen videos of people using hot glue, and that just doesnt seem well enough to hold long term. Plus, you can see the hot glue bevel lines through the fabric. And if anyone has any other advise for me on this journey to make Roman shades, feel free to help me out!

I am always keen to using E6000 for projects like this when adhering multiple material types together.

But that also depends on the fabric color and its ability to absorb glue. If it absorbs moisture quickly and is a light grey, you may see discoloration.

I agree with hot glue, especially since they will be beat up and moved around some.

Super 77 from 3M is pretty good for sticking thing a to b. Used it to bond close cel foam together for prop work and plastic to plastic. Ive seen it do felt to board to line boxes so almost certain it would work for you.

Not sure if you’ve done this yet. But I’d think hot glue would pop right off and E6000 does not work well with fabric. I’d try spray adhesive, ie Super 77.

If you have finished it. How’d it go?
