Learn the basics of safely working in the Letterpress Shop in this safety class. We will cover basic safety in operating the Challenge Paper Shear. This is the minimum requirement for doing work in the Letterpress Shop, especially for cutting paper on the shear. We will also cover basic safety around the Heidelberg 10 x 15 Letterpress - however this class does NOT teach you how to produce work on the presses. Successful completion of this class will qualify you to work in the Letterpress Area, operate the Challenge Paper Shear, and operate the NuArc Flip-Top plate burner. And it will teach you how to work safely around the Heidelberg press. Expect to spend an hour in class, where you will have time to make a number of test cuts on the Paper Shear, and will learn to operate the NuArc. Please note that while this class does cover safety on the Heidelberg, it does not in itself qualify you to operate it.

Prerequisites: Please read the Letterpress Area tool access policy and safety requirements on the wiki page prior to coming to class. No special personal protective equipment (goggles, hearing protection, or any other) is required, but please keep long hair tied up.

Upon completion of the safety demonstration you can use the paper shear and plate burner for your projects whenever you work at MakeICT as a member!

Resin Coasters - Beginners Class (Day 2 of 2)

Time: Oct 29 09:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Host: Gena Profit
Price: MakeICT Members - $60.00
Price: Non-Members - $65.00
Ages: 18 and up

This is the second day of the class.

I really enjoyed the Resin/Epoxy class. Gena Profit did an exceptional job coaching us/me. I even really messed my project up and she took the time and expense to make it right. I think everyone taking the class enjoyed it too. The other students really showed some really great exhibits. I was jealous too. I can see myself setting up a table up in the garage to make more epoxy projects. 5 stars for Genaā€¦

Since there are no registrants as of 10 am, and since Iā€™m a bit under the weather, Iā€™m going to go ahead and cancel the Letterpress safety class for today (Saturday, Oct 29).

Carry on.
