Maker Monday is our open house event. It’s a great way to experience the makerspace and the maker culture in person. You’ll learn all about our space, tools, policies, people, and how we operate.

Our tours are free and open to the public. While you are welcome to just show up, we prefer that you register in advance so we have enough members on hand to assist with our tours.

You are welcome to hang out and chat after your tour. There’s always something interesting going on at Maker Monday!

Make a Bowl Cozy

Nothing better than a hot bowl of soup or chili on these cold days! Holding those hot bowls is another story though. In this class make a Bowl Cozy to protect those hands. Also great for bowls of ice cream in the summer!

All materials provided. This class will teach the basics of using a sewing machine, using a quilting ruler to measure and cut a square, cutting fabric, and basic sewing skills.

You get to take your bowl cozy home.

Make a Zippered Pouch

These little pouches are so much more than makeup bags! Carry small items? Want to make them easy to find in your purse or bag? A zippered pouch is the perfect solution! You can choose between a square or a rectangular shaped small pouch. These reusable pouches are awesome for keeping plastic baggies out of the landfills as well.

This class will teach cutting fabric with a ruler and use of the cutting mat, adding a liner, installing a zipper, and basic use of a sewing machine.

This class and the reversible bag class will prepare you for an upcoming class to make a purse.

All materials provided. You get to take your pouch home with you.

‘Zine Culture: Introduction to the Art of Self Publication

This class is an introduction to the art of self publication, particularly in the format known as a ‘zine’. We’ll go through step by step how to create your own magazine from scratch, using little more than what you have on hand, and a photocopier.

3D Printer Group

3D Printer Group is a monthly get-together for people to share their enthusiasm for 3D Printing. Bring your questions, show off your creations, share your expertise, and even bring your own printer if you want.

This month, we’ll be talking about TPU and going through the process of printing with this flexible filament on the Prusas. We’ll also have an activity to learn how to use heat set inserts.

One-Color Screen Printing

This class will focus on the basics of screen-printing; from choosing a design, exposing a screen, washing out the stencil, and applying the ink to paper. Participants will get the opportunity to practice good screen printing technique by helping to produce a run of 50 wall-worthy prints.

We'll also answer any curiosities you might have regarding multi-color printing, printing on cloth, and obtaining and using other people's artwork.

Learn how to use the 80 watt CO2 laser cutters at MakeICT. We will be using Inkscape and LightBurn software to create and cut a simple project.

Participants will learn the capabilities of the laser cutter, machine and material safety, and operation of the machine in Cartesian (flat) mode. All participants will complete a small project to practice running the machine. Intermediate computer proficiency is recommended. Users should be comfortable with web browsing, Windows file folder navigation, copy and paste shortcut keys, and mouse operation.
